Forum upgrades

Postby Owen » Sun Feb 04, 2007 5:39 pm

I've upgraded the entire system running miniclub.ie, and will be doing so again next week. Sorry for the downtime today, there may be some outstanding issues, ones I'm aware of are :

No images on the main page
Club Merchandise not working
Bold highlighting for Forums and Club Merchandise both missing

I'm going to take the site down again probably Wednesday night this week, around 11pm for 2 hours. I'll be upgrading to the latest version of the software that runs this site, and hopefully it should speed things up a little, and restore the images on the main page.

We're upto the latest version of the software. I had to re-write some code to get it to show images again, but it seems to be okay. Let me know if you find bugs.

I'm going to bed now. I've been at this 4 hours, and this quotes thing has my head wrecked, I'll look at it tomorrow night. In the mean time, when you click quote at the moment you'll get :

Code: Select all
[quote="irlmin"]
for example. Just change this bit to :
Code: Select all
[quote]
on it's own, and it'll work temporarily until I get to fix it.

I'm going to schedule 60 minutes of downtime tonight around midnight to try and sort the Forum quotes out again.

I give up. 3 hours working through code, and I'm no wiser. I'll check it at the weekend again, in the mean time could everyone follow the instructions for quoting above, or avoid the quote button altogether?

Minor problems with site

Postby jimskater » Sat Mar 10, 2007 5:00 pm

Owen,

I'm not getting notifications of posts to threads that I'm watching or have participated in. MTI thread, Mini Cabrio thread, etc. When I do get them, it's usually during the middle of the night, Ireland time.

Lightbulb goes off

<----goes to check settings.

----> back

Nope, it's not my settings. I'm set for notification. :confused:

Well, it seems to work fine for me. This would indicate that there's nothing wrong with the server. All the server does is look at the cookie stored on your computer to find your last visit, and highlight posts since then. So ... if this isn't happening, then your cookies are being screwed up. Are you using Firefox, or Opera, or Internet Explorer. In any case, check your secutiry settings, that miniclub.ie is actually allowed to set a session cookie on your machine, and make sure the browser isn't deleting cookies when you close it down.

Other than that Jim, I don't know. It seems to work for me, so as I said, the Server ain't broke!

Thanks, Owen. I'm on Firefox. Went out & looked at the privacy settings. Turns out my miniclub cookies were being deleted everytime I shut down.

That has now been fixed. :D
